SECOND LIFE & EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES
Second Life is an internet-based 3D environment which's citizens can build their own home, their own shop, and many other things. Contrarily to pure gaming environments like World of Warcraft, Second Life does not have a predefined plot. Moreover, its inhabitants contruct the world according to their needs and interests by purchasing ground, creating artefacts fitted with intelligent properties, and by doing business. Recently and increasingly, Second Life is being deployed by educational institutions to complement traditional online learning environments. Within this workshop, an overview over the virtual reality capabilities in Second Life will frame the discussion and succeeding development of a concept for the PROLEARN academy representation in second life.
