Abstract:

The lecture covers a short overview about the Multimedia Content Description Interface (MPEG-7). Some of the visual & audio descriptors in the MPEG-7 standard are explained. In the following, we present a community engine based on a service oriented architecture offering MPEG-7 services to multiple multimedia communities. A series of applications and scenarios from e-learning, knowledge management, and social software illustrates the use of metadata for communities interacting in the Web 2.0.
