International Workshop on Applying Data Mining in e-Learning (ADML'07) is related to the series of Educational data mining workshops organized in conjunction with the AAAI'05, AIED'05, ITS'06, AAAI'06, AIED'07, UM'07, and ICALT'07 conferences. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers in Data Mining, e-Learning, Intelligent Tutoring Systems and Adaptive Educational Hypermedia to discuss the opportunities of applying data mining to e-learning systems. This mix of data mining, e-learning, tutoring system and adaptive hypermedia researchers is also reflected in the program committee.
The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners working at unlocking the educational content hidden in repositories and facilitating the retrieval and exchange of this content. The workshop aims at providing an international forum to highlight the state-of-the-art and discuss the issues and innovative approaches in the field.
The objective of the 3rd Workshop on Learner-Oriented Knowledge Management & KM-Oriented E-Learning is to provide an interdisciplinary forum in which scientists and practitioners can exchange new ideas and applications on Learner-oriented Knowledge Management and the use of Knowledge Management technologies in e-Learning. The workshop will build upon the results of its predecessors LOKMOL’05 which was held at the International Conference on Professional Knowledge Management (WM’05) and LOKMOL’06 which was held at the European Conference for Technology Enhanced Learning (EC-TEL’06).
Social information retrieval (SIR) refers to a family of techniques that assist users in obtaining information to meet their information needs by harnessing the knowledge or experience of other users. The aim of the SIRTEL'07 Workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners who are working on topics related to the application of SIR methods, techniques and systems in educational settings, as well as to present the current status of research in this area to interested researchers and practitioners.
The workshop aims at to bring researchers, industrial stakeholders and interested community that are active in the area of technology enhanced professional learning together. The workshop will be organized by the members of the European Project IP PROLIX (www.prolix-project.eu). PROLIX, which brings together 19 leading European organisations in TEL, coordinated by IMC Germany and providing LMS, LCMS and business intelligence tools aims to align learning with business processes, by bridging e-learning and Business Intelligence tools by means of shared standards and interfaces.
Most conferences and workshops report on success stories only. Make your contribution to our collective wisdom by sharing tales and analysis of problems and pitfalls. This workshop is designed to be an opportunity for learning, sharing and collective problem solving. If the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) community is to flourish and make progress then we need to be prepared to share tales of our disasters, how we recovered from them, and how to avoid repeating our mistakes in the future.
The workshop focuses on current research trends in project-oriented cooperative learning solutions that aim at facilitating more dynamic and realistic learning scenarios, centered on the “learning by doing” approach.
The Workshop is organized by the e-START EU-funded project (e-START Digital Literacy Network, e-Learning Programme, Contract No.: 2006-4530/001-001 ELE ELEB11), which aims to build an EU-wide network of experts and key stakeholders that will provide a communication base for understanding, supporting and promoting “Digital Literacy” in compulsory education (K-9) across Europe.
The workshop focuses on current research trends in technology enhanced learning solutions that aim at addressing the multiplicity and complexity of needs of Communities of Practice all along their lifecycle. The workshop seeks for quality research papers that propose solutions to the issues identified above. It advocates for approaches that build on the synergy of concepts such as multimedia information authoring and reuse, knowledge management, as well as argumentation, negotiation and collaboration support. It aims to bring together scientists and engineers who work on designing and/or developing the abovementioned solutions, as well as practitioners who evaluate them in diverse real environments. Particular interest will be given to approaches built according to well-established pedagogical principles.
